    Did you know electric cars first came into existence in the mid-19th century? In those days electric cars offered a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved by the gasoline cars of the time. But petrol and diesel based systems won out in the end. Until now that is.

    Electric cars are well and truly making a comeback with over 3,000 expected to be on the road by the end of the year. We’re excited to help our customers join this group. That’s why we’ve launched Powerfuel, a product designed exclusively for electric car owners.

  • And, if you’re at the beginning of your electric car journey, we’ve got a team of professionals on hand to install a home charging unit for you. A charging unit will be installed by us in conjunction with our partners, Chargemaster. For a one off installation fee of £95^ and a monthly subscription of £24.50^ you’ll get a home charging kit and access to the growing nationwide Polar electric vehicle charging network set to offer more than 4,000 charging points by the end of 2012.

  • Important safety information: It is strongly recommended that customers ensure their home charging socket and wiring have been installed and approved by a qualified electrician before they commence charging. A home charge point with its own dedicated circuit is a sensible means of charging your electric car safely and the most economical. This will ensure the circuit can manage the electricity demand from the car and that the circuit is activated only when the charger communicates with the car, known as the ‘handshake‘.

    ^Contract for the home charging kit and access to the charging points will be arranged through, and be with, Chargemaster. Contract term is 24 months. Other options are available through Chargemaster, including a charging unit only and business options.
    *We will pass Chargemaster details of any customers requesting the home charging kit and /or access to the Polar network.
